Choosing your baby’s name can be tricky and it comes with a lot of responsibilities.
Finding a name should be very thoughtful because for example, both parents should agree on it and future wise, the baby should feel a connection with his name and feel good about it.
With no doubts, all that concludes that this decision could be the most important for both; the parents and the newborn.
It doesn’t matter if the name you’re going to choose is traditional, original, modern, composed of one or two names, the decision should utterly be yours.
It is not very convenient to ask for other’s opinions because everybody has a different perspective on things and trust me, during this time, we women will be already confused, don’t invite more confusion to your life!
My husband and I decided to write some advice to help you, knowing that it wasn’t easy at all with our daughter and son. We wanted the names to be fair for both of us and we wanted them to be convenient for our 3 countries and that, my friend, sounds like a mission impossible!
We chose some tips for you that we learned throughout our adventure to help you choose the boy/girl names that you need!
How to choose a baby name?

1. Your baby’s name must be liked by both parents.
It is the time when parents must be working as a team. This may delay the process but it’s normal to reach a common ground.
2. Your child’s name should not be too long.
Especially if the last name is already long! That could cause complications for your child in the future.
The trick is knowing how to keep the name balanced, a long last name goes better with a short name, and vice versa. So we recommend that you look in the lists for girl/boy short names.
3. The name for your baby should sound good and easy to pronounce.
In our case, we needed a name that sounded equal in both Spanish and French. Thus we avoided girl names that were pronounced differently in French.
4. The name for your baby should not be too original
As parents, we want our baby’s name to be unique, but be careful to invent extravagant names.
Your child’s name will say more about you than of himself and will also say a lot about the dreams and ambitions that you want your child to reach.
5. Baby’s name should not be very common
It is true that it could be very tempting to give your baby a fashionable name.
However, we must think that later on, he will be with several children having exactly the same name at school. You should also avoid traditional and almost forgotten old names.
6. Your baby’s name must have a beautiful meaning
It is very likely that one day someone will ask about the meaning of your child’s name if not your child himself asks it! So be thoughtful about this part!
7. Baby’s name should sound good with the last name.
This advice is basic but sometimes one hears very rare combinations with bad meaning which makes us wonder if the parents really took their time to decide …
8. Baby’s name should not bring negative energy or be related to something negative.
Does a child’s name affect their personality? The answer is yes! It is obvious advice but you have to make sure that the name was not carried by a character who did bad things or who has a bad reputation somewhere in the world etc.
