Crêpes feast
There’s a traditional feast In France known as “Chandeleur” (also called fiesta de la Candelaria in Spanish. ) It happens on the 2nd of every February. It’s an enjoyable feast enjoyed by French families, especially children.
The origin of this feast
The Feast of the Presentation is one of the oldest feasts of the Christian church, encountered in ancient Romanian times when they celebrated the Virgin Mary. On this occasion, people walk with lit candles. Nowadays, it’s not only the candles that symbolize this feast; crêpes to play a huge role.
The tradition
The tradition regarding this feast is to make the crêpes together as a family. The dough is prepared and put in a pan; The art that all kids like to see and be a part of
Being able to flip the crêpes in the pan is synonymous with happiness the entire year!
As decent French people, we’ve been part of this tradition, and we’ve spent a fun night where it all escalated from salty crêpes as the main course to sweet crêpes for dessert.
Crêpes recipe
Ingredients for two persons

For eight crêpes:
– 250 g of flour
– 4 eggs
– 1/2 liter of whole milk
– 50 g of butter
– 10 g of sugar
– A pinch of salt
How to Make Crêpes
The flour is put in a bowl, and milk, eggs, salt, and sugar are added gradually. The dough should be smooth but not thick; it can be beaten by hand or done with an electric mixer.
Let it rest for 1 hour and then spread it on a medium-sized pan with the butter and wait for it to cook over medium heat. To make the first crêpe, we take a soup ladle and add the mixture to the pan until its base is covered.
Once the layer under the pancake looks golden brown after being put for 1 minute over low heat, we turn it over with a spatula to make the other side equally brown.
We must always repeat the same procedure of greasing the pan with butter every time we’re doing a new crêpe
Presentation tips: Salty crêpes go well with salad, cheese, and meat with sauce or vegetables. Sweet crêpes with chocolate, jam, or cream.
